Stiefelmayer Clamping Technology

Finger chuck

High axial clamping force, even for asymmetrical workpieces

This chuck type is used in many variations whenever high axial clamping force is required or deformation sensitive workpieces have to be machined. The face clamping fingers can be arranged as required. Ideal for secure and precise clamping, for example of asymmetrical workpieces.

Problem Properties Workpieces
  • Clamping force adjustable over a wide range
  • High roundness requirement
  • Non-round clamping diameter
  • Reduce machining operations
  • Thin-walled components
  • Compensation clamping
  • For high speed
  • For non-round clamping ø
  • For thin-walled parts
  • Number of jaws > 3
  • Pull down
  • Cam
  • Electric motor housing
  • Flange
  • Housing
  • Milled part
  • Ring
  • Turbocharger

Technical features

  • Variable: Workpiece centring via holes, pins, mandrel, collet chuck or clamping jaws
  • For symmetrical and asymmetrical workpieces
  • Large stroke with planar pull
  • Close-to maintenance-free design possible
  • Can be realised either as a centric or compensating clamping device
  • Retractable clamping jaws possible

Typical applications

  • Face clamping for electric motor housings

Finger chuck with active support and damping system

  • Flat clamping of a housing

The clamping reference is in a defined angle to the axis of rotation.
